I've decided to back up a bit. My summer wanderings actually began the last week of June when I traveled to Virginia to participate in a series of panels I Co-coordinated. We brought together a group of 9 creative writers and 6 scholars of Children's Literature - all Alum of Hollins University's graduate programs.
It was an amazing week of getting reacquainted with old friends and developing new friendships. I was so inspired to write as we walked around the idyllic campus sharing our stories and experiences in the field of writing. We had time to talk with current students and faculty and soak in the magic of the campus.
Being in a place away from home is a great time to reflect on goals (and writing plots!) and regenerate. This was a perfect precursor to Europe...
